THE SEAFARER by Conor McPherson November 20 - December 14
The Seafarer is a chilling new play about the sea, Ireland, and the power of myth. It's Christmas Eve and Sharky has returned to Dublin to look after his irascible, aging brother who's recently gone blind. Old drinking buddies Ivan and Nicky are holed up at the house too, hoping to play some cards. With the arrival of a stranger from the distant past, the stakes are raised even higher. Sharky may be playing for his very soul.
The Cast
Dennis Creaghan* (Richard) Has worked extensively in theatres across this country and in Europe. He has performed in many plays at the Caldwell Theatre in Boca Raton over the last few seasons and is pleased to be appearing at The Mosaic. He has appeared in many films and more bad television than he cares to admit to.
John Felix* (Ivan) has previously appeared at Mosaic in Guest Artist and as Salieri in Amadeus. Other recent stage credits include: Lying in State and Suite Surrender (Caldwell Theatre); Breaking Legs (Florida Repertory Theatre); Melt (New Theatre); God's Favorite and Jan Karon's Journey to Mitford (Blowing Rock Stage); The Mystery of Irma Vep (Actors' Playhouse & Blowing Rock Stage); Greetings! and Moon Over Buffalo (Florida Repertory Theatre); Blithe Spirit and Where's Charley? (Caldwell Theatre); The Good German (Florida Stage); Seascape (Palm Beach Dramaworks); and Fortune's Fool (Caldwell Theatre). Recipient of Carbonell and Curtain-Up Awards, John is proud to be a long-standing member of Actors' Equity, the union of stage professionals in the U.S.A.
Ken Clement (Mr. Lockhart) is happy about returning to Mosaic to work with Richard and friends. Mosaic audiences may remember Ken from such past Mosaic shows as A Body of Water, Glengarry Glen Ross, Dealer's Choice, Rabbit Hole, The Memory of Water and Because He Can. Ken, a South-Florida native, studied theater with Barbara Lowery at MDC-North (over a hundred years ago!) before receiving his BFA from California Institute of the Arts. Ken got his first professional break at the Ruth Foreman Theater, working with the late director Bob Bogdanov in the musical Baby and Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth with local legends Jan McCart and Ken Kay. Favorite Miami credits include The Lt. of Inishmore, Address Unknown (Carbonell nomination), Popcorn and Killer Joe (Carbonell nomination) at GableStage; Faith Healer (Carbonell nomimation) at Inside Out; Cyrano at Deborah Sherman's Promethean Theatre; Urinetown, Johnny Guitar, Big Bang (Carbonell and Curtain-Up nomination), Sherlock's Last Case and Floyd Collins at Actors' Playhouse; Tom Walker (Carbonell winner), and the World Premiere of Anna in the Tropics at Rafael De Acha's New Theatre; and Helluva Halloween, Here in My Car, Shepherd's Pie, Shoot and Portrait at Paul Tei's MadCat Theatre Company. Ken also appeared (along with WAY too many kids) as Mr. Bumble in Cameron Mackintosh's National Tour of Oliver!. Last year Ken had the dubious honor of receiving two Carbonell nominations for Best Actor. He lost, but thinks it may have been a very clever 'fat joke.' As always, Ken considers himself "the luckiest son-of-a-bitch he knows."
Christian Rockwell (Nicky) The Seafarer marks Christian's sixth performance at the Mosaic Theatre and a welcome return to South Florida after an almost two and a half year absence! Christian was last seen in Mosaic Theatre's production of Dealers Choice (Carbonell - Best Ensemble nomination) back in April 2006 and Mosaic theatre audiences may also remember Christian from other favorite productions such as Amadeus (Carbonell nomination), Art (Carbonell - Best Ensemble), The Elephiant Man, Someone Who'll Watch Over Me and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. An actor and director, Christian currently resides in London from where he has also spent the past four years pursuing his other passion - to see as much of the world as possible! A big thank you to Richard for bringing him back, and to his family and Elena for their constant support and love.
Gregg Weiner* (Sharky) is thrilled to return to Mosaic for such an amazing play. Gregg was last seen here at Mosaic playing Sweeney in Dealer's Choice in 2006 (Best Ensemble Carbonell Nomination). This year Gregg was last seen playing John in another of Conor McPherson's shows Shining City at GableStage in Coral Gables this past July. Prior to that he performed various roles in The Accomplices also at GableStage. And finally this past season, Gregg was in Fourth Wall at Palm Beach Dramaworks (Best Ensemble - NewTimes Broward/West Palm Beach.) Gregg was nominated for his first individual Carbonell for his work in That Championship Season at Palm Beach Dramaworks and won for his ensemble work in Juggerknot's Tracers back in 2003. Gregg has performed with City Theater's Summer Shorts 2004-2006, and Mad Cat Theater Company from 2003-2004. Gregg has dabbled in some TV/Film and commercials, (Transporter 2 and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and looks forward to more of that goodness as he pounds the pavements of NYC where he resides in between theater gigs in South Florida. For more information on Mr. Weiner you can go to www.greggweiner.com. He would like to thank Richard for bringing him back to South Florida, the cast and crew for making work so much fun and to Julie for again dealing with him not being in bed next to her for 7 weeks. Gregg is an NWSA Alumni, and a member of Actor's Equity Association.
